When choosing cork flooring for a bathroom, consider the level of moisture the flooring will be exposed to. Pick cork flooring that is treated with a waterproof finish or sealant is recommended to prevent water damage. Additionally, it is also important to choose cork flooring with a good slip-resistance rating. This will prevent accidents in the bathroom. Here at BRICOFLOR, we’re recommending the Granorte Spectrum collection!

Glue-down Cork Flooring - The Portuguese expert with warm designs

The Granorte Spectrum Collection is a line of cork floor tiles produced by the Portuguese company Granorte. The collection features a variety of colours and patterns. Give your space a rich, earthy natural feel, with these beautiful designs!

The tiles are 300 x 300 x 4mm, so they are very practical in size. They're perfect for smaller spaces such as a bathroom. They are relatively easy to install also which is a plus! With a thickness of only 4mm, you can be sure that the installation process will not require raising any doors or furniture.

Made from high-density cork, this is more durable and resistant to wear and tear than traditional cork flooring. The collection also features a water-resistant finish. This makes it suitable for use in bathrooms and other high-moisture areas of the home. Additionally, the Spectrum Collection cork flooring is made from natural and renewable materials and it is considered an eco-friendly flooring option.

Quick Granorte Spectrum installation guide

  1. Prepare the surface: Ensure that the surface is clean, dry, and level. Remove any existing flooring and make any necessary repairs to the subfloor.
  2. Measure the area: Measure the length and width of the room to determine the amount of flooring needed. We recommend adding an extra 10% to allow for cuts and waste.
  3. Install the flooring: Begin by installing the flooring along one wall. You must make sure to maintain a consistent expansion gap around the perimeter of the room. Use a tapping block and hammer to lock the planks together.
  4. Finish the installation: Continue installing the flooring, making sure to stagger the end joints of the planks and maintain the expansion gap. Once the installation is complete, trim any excess material and install any necessary mouldings or trim pieces.
  5. Clean the surface and enjoy the new flooring.

It's important to note that the installation process may vary depending on the specific product, the manufacturer's instructions and the specific condition of the subfloor. It's also recommended to add an extra layer of varnish, which we also supply, to ensure added protection for a bathroom setting. Consult the manufacturer's instructions and if you are not sure about the installation, hire a professional installer.

Granorte spectrum is also a perfect wet room flooring as it’s also naturally hypoallergenic. This essentially means that it resists the growth of bacteria and fungus. Since the structure is breathable, even if there is any damage to the surface of the flooring, the cork will regenerate and go back to its natural shape. Its breathable structure and softness mean it's ideal for people with joint issues since it is so soft on the joints.

Not only does this flooring have impressive technical properties, but it is also easy to clean and maintain, requiring only a mop or vacuum cleaner. Additionally, it comes with a 10-year warranty for residential use and a 5-year warranty for commercial use.
