Linoleum flooring consists largely of natural materials, such as linseed oil. This is where linoleum flooring draws all its strength from. In order to be able to use it in all its facets, however, the linoleum sheets must be glued to the existing subfloor over the entire surface. Only by permanently bonding with adhesive can the full potential of linoleum be exploited. Although glueing is often described as one of the most difficult installation practices, with a little skill and know-how it can be mastered even by amateur craftsmen. However, there is no mistaking the fact that especially professional floor installers are powerful in this installation method. The installation is always carried out according to the same sequence of steps.
You can always rely on linoleum as a renovation partner, especially for the long term! Once laid, Forbo linoleum flooring can withstand high loads for years, making even the costly renovation practice of glueing it down worthwhile. Although the installation of flooring for glueing can mean a certain amount of extra work, with a little know-how, this operation can be done by anyone. Laying out linoleum flooring for glueing requires basic steps. As a first preparatory step, the substrate of the area to be renovated must be cleaned of old flooring, dirt, grease and unevenness. Unevenness, such as cracks, holes and the like, only hinder the installation of the linoleum flooring. Therefore, these should be levelled with the help of a commercial filler, such as those available in hardware stores. Then the linoleum sheets must be adapted to the existing room dimensions. In particular, cut-outs must be made for bay windows, heating pipes and the like so that nothing stands in the way of the final installation. After that, the linoleum flooring only needs to be firmly connected to the subfloor. For this step, the substrate must first be equipped with an even adhesive layer. The linoleum can then be laid in this layer. The individual strips or blanks must be laid end to end in the adhesive so that there are no gaps. As soon as the room is completely equipped with the linoleum, the adhesive layer only has to harden or dry so that the linoleum floor is firmly bonded to the subfloor.
